MUSICIANS

Georgia Conroy (flute), Charlie Brown (guitar and vocals), and Kathrin (vocals and guitar)

Charlie Brown and Kathrin met in New York in a truly wretched, blessedly short-lived show group called The Performers, and have been friends ever since.  Charlie, Georgia Conroy, and Kathrin performed as The Kat Band for several years in Los Angeles and environs, until Georgia moved to Arizona to re-invent herself and share her wonderful flute playing with a whole new community.

Charlie grew up an army brat, traveling with his family from Georgia to California, Germany, France and Japan and back to Georgia before coming to New York and getting his first big break in the recording studios at Atlantic Records.

Charlie has worked with the top acts in the music business, including Solomon Burke, Van Morrison (LP version of Brown-Eyed Girl), Bob Dylan (Blood on the Tracks), Loudon Wainwright III, Eric Weissberg and Deliverance, and others. He spent four years as lead guitarist in the Broadway show, Hair, and recorded two solo LPs on Polydor Records, Up From Georgia and Portrait of a Glad Man, and a CD, Ride in the Country (Check it out at CDBaby).

Charlie has worked with me on both of my CDs. The second CD, Land of Beginning Again, is a true collaboration, with four of my original songs (including the title song) and two of Charlie’s, primarily instrumentals. He plays most of the guitars on the tracks, all lead guitars, plus electric bass, Dobro and lap steel.
